We build machinery in China and we load containers every week. The same thing goes wrong on almost every first order, and it happens long before anything is packed: a buyer compares quotations without knowing what a quotation from a factory is supposed to contain.
Buying factory-direct in 2026 means ordering from the manufacturer, not from a dealer, a trader or a marketplace reseller, to get wholesale pricing, OEM or ODM customization and export support inside one contract. Importers, distributors and contractors sourcing remote-controlled mowers, mini dump trucks, concrete mixers, tricycles or utility vehicles typically find that a direct factory relationship cuts 20-40% off the landed cost compared with going through intermediaries. What follows is how factory-direct wholesale works at TorqMax, what OEM and ODM actually cover, and how to place a first order without paying for the mistakes we watch buyers repeat.
What factory-direct means for a machinery buyer
A factory-direct supplier owns the production line for the machines it sells. We build remote-controlled mowers, tracked dump trucks, concrete mixers, cargo tricycles, skid steer loaders and utility buggies in our own 8,000 sqm plant. The figure on your quotation is therefore the manufacturer price, and a customization request reaches the people who build the machine rather than a distributor who never touches the product. The U.S. Small Business Administration advises vetting suppliers directly when imports form a core part of your business model.
OEM and ODM, and where the line sits
OEM, Original Equipment Manufacturing, means you take a standard TorqMax model and put your own brand on it. Your logo on the machine, your name in the manual, your packaging on the pallet. ODM goes further. Original Design Manufacturing means we change the machine itself before it carries your brand: colour, decals, accessories, engine options, and sometimes structural details such as deck width or bed dimensions.
Both routes hand you an exclusive product line without the cost of building a factory of your own. Many of our landscaping, construction and distribution partners begin with OEM branding, then move into ODM once their volumes justify the tooling work.
Comparing wholesale machinery suppliers
We get asked to prove we are a factory about once a week, which is fair. Five things separate a plant from a trading desk.
- Factory or trader. Ask for the plant address and book a video call on the production floor. A real factory can walk a camera past machines being built.
- Certifications. For North America, look for EPA certificates for the gasoline engines; our EPA import guide covers what that file contains. For the EU, CE documentation decides whether the machine clears customs.
- MOQ and lead time. We work from MOQ 1 unit on stock models, with 15-30 days of production.
- Spare parts. Ask whether wear parts such as blades, tracks and filters ship from the same factory.
- Payment terms. Export orders normally run on T/T with a deposit and the balance against shipping documents. Settle the terms before production starts, not after.
Vet a machinery supplier the way you would vet any trading partner. The SBA import and export guidance is a reasonable framework to start from.
What you can buy factory-direct from TorqMax
Our own line covers six categories, all of them built here rather than bought in. That difference shows up two years later, when a spare part is needed.
| Category | Models | Typical buyers |
|---|---|---|
| Remote-controlled mowers | 400-900mm cut, 224-764cc | Landscapers, municipalities, orchards |
| Mini dump trucks | 500-1000kg tracked | Construction crews, rental yards |
| Concrete mixers | 200-500L tracked | Concrete contractors, hardscape firms |
| Cargo tricycles | 1-3 ton, 150-350cc | African & Asian distributors, farms |
| Skid steer loaders | 330-450kg compact | Landscaping, construction |
| ATVs & utility buggies | 4-wheel gasoline | Farms, resorts, rental operators |
How the factory-direct ordering process runs
The first order takes five steps and none of them is complicated. Most of the delay we see comes from changes made after the deposit, once the specification has already gone to the production line.
- Send an inquiry with your models, quantity and destination port, through the contact form or WhatsApp.
- We send a quotation within 12 hours, Monday to Saturday, GMT+8, with pricing and delivery options.
- You confirm the specifications: engine, colour, branding, accessories.
- Production starts once the deposit arrives. Typical lead time is 15-30 days.
- Inspection and shipment. We send photos and videos before dispatch, then export packing to your port.
If you are new to tracked equipment, our how-to-order page walks through each step, and the FAQ answers the payment, shipping and certification questions we get most.
Wholesale buying guides by category
If you are still choosing the machine rather than the supplier, these are the guides we hand to buyers.
- How to choose a remote-controlled lawn mower. Cutting width, engine size and the ground you actually mow.
- Concrete mixer buying guide for small contractors. Drum size, engine choice and the sites a tracked machine suits.
- Farm transport tricycles. How to match a 1-ton load to a 3-ton one before you order.
- Compact skid steer loaders. What a 330-450kg machine can do on a real site.
- Gasoline ATVs and utility buggies. Wholesale buying guide for dealers and rental fleets.
- SDL330 and SDL450 compact tracked skid steer loaders, the 330kg and 450kg machines landscaping and construction crews order from us.
FAQ
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) at TorqMax?
One unit on stock models. A single machine is enough to test the market, show a dealer or start a rental fleet before you commit to volume, and wholesale pricing starts to apply as quantities climb. Mixed containers carrying several models work too, and they lower the freight on each unit.
Can you put my brand on the machines?
Yes. OEM branding is ordinary work for us: your logo on the machine, your name in the manual, your packaging on the pallet. ODM goes further and changes the machine itself, covering colour, decals, accessories, engine options and certain structural details. Tell us what you want changed and we price it.
Do you provide EPA certificates for US import?
Yes. Gasoline-engine models carry US EPA Certificates of Conformity, and the certificate travels with the quotation so you can match the engine family to the model you are importing. Our EPA guide explains each field on the document, including the parts your customs broker asks about.
What are typical production lead times?
Stock models ship in 15-30 days after the deposit clears. Custom ODM builds take longer, and how much longer depends on the changes. A colour and decal change adds days, while an engine substitution or a new deck width adds weeks, because the drawings and the fixtures move with it.
How do I know TorqMax is a real factory?
We operate an 8,000 sqm plant in China and have exported for over a decade to 50+ countries. The About page carries the company story and factory photographs, and we will walk you through the floor on a video call at a time that suits your working day.
How do I verify the EPA certificate on a gasoline-engine model?
Every gasoline-powered TorqMax machine ships with a US EPA Certificate of Conformity. Ours is TCGPS.2241PC-055. Ask for the file early, then match the engine family printed on it to the model you are importing, since a mismatch there is what holds a shipment at the port. Our EPA import guide explains each field.

Questions we get asked
What is the difference between buying factory-direct and from a trader?
A factory controls the production line, the specification and the people who build the machine, so a change or a problem gets settled with the people responsible for it. A trader buys from the factory and adds a margin, which can still be worth paying when you want several product types in one order from a single contact.
What does OEM and ODM actually mean?
OEM means we build our machine to your brand: your logo, your colours, your packaging. ODM means we also change the machine itself, whether that is deck width, engine brand or bed dimensions. Both are ordinary manufacturing work for a factory and awkward for a reseller, which is the practical argument for going direct.
What is the minimum order quantity?
One unit for most models. You can order a single machine to check build quality and performance before committing to volume, and wholesale pricing applies at higher quantities. Mixed containers that combine several models are available as well, and they reduce the freight cost on each unit.
How do I verify a supplier is a real factory?
Ask for the production address, ask what the company manufactures in-house and what it buys in, then ask for a video call from the factory floor. After that, check that the company name on the quotation, the invoice and the bank account all match. Vague answers to those questions mean you are talking to a reseller.
What documents should come with a machinery shipment?
The commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin travel with every shipment, along with the conformity documents for your market. Machines for the United States need an EPA certificate of conformity. Machines for the European Union need the EU Declaration of Conformity and CE marking.
