We came to the TorqMax factory in Shenzhen to buy one cargo tricycle and left with two. Both machines sit on the same 1-ton three-wheel chassis. One carries a tipping bed, the other a fixed platform, and that single difference decides which of our customers each model fits. What follows is what the floor looked like, the video we shot while we were there, how we split the first container between the two, and a short FAQ on 2026 orders.

If you only want our conclusion, it reads like this. The flat-seat dump goes to site work. The flatbed goes to everything else. Neither one is the better machine on paper.

Our factory visit, on video

We filmed this on a phone, so the sound is rough and the camera swings about. What it does show is the bench at the end of the line, where every unit is started and run before it goes into the crate. That bench was the reason we stopped asking about discounts and started asking about packing.

The flat-seat dump, for construction work

The Tricycle Flat-Seat Dump is the one we took for our construction customers. It carries 1 ton in a tipping bed, which is what sand, gravel, manure and demolition spoil need. The driver sits on a flat seat behind the load rather than over it, and that keeps the center of gravity low on rough tracks. When the bed comes up, the whole load is out in seconds instead of a shovel at a time.

  • 1-ton payload with a single-cylinder gasoline engine
  • Tipping dump bed, so unloading on site is fast
  • Flat-seat driving position. Low center of gravity, stable on farm tracks
  • Best for: construction hauling, agriculture, market deliveries of bulk goods

The flatbed, for general freight

The Tricycle Flatbed uses the same 1-ton chassis with a fixed platform where the tipping gear would sit. No tipping mechanism means more simplicity and a bigger usable deck for stacked cargo. Sacks, crates, timber, building materials and mixed loads that never need to tip all go straight on it.

  • 1-ton payload on a fixed flatbed deck
  • Simpler drivetrain, fewer moving parts, lower maintenance
  • Best for: general freight, sack goods, timber, market runs, farm logistics

Flat-seat dump vs flatbed: the differences that matter

Criteria Flat-Seat Dump Flatbed
Payload 1 ton 1 ton
Bed Tipping dump Fixed flat deck
Best for Sand, gravel, spoil, manure Sacks, crates, timber, mixed freight
Maintenance Standard Lower (no tipping mechanism)

Many distributors buy both, the dump for site work and the flatbed for market and farm runs. There is a practical reason for that. The pair shares one container, and buying them at once qualifies for better freight consolidation, which cuts the per-unit freight. If your market has steep or unpaved roads, the longer piece on choosing a gasoline cargo tricycle for mountain roads explains how engine and gearing choices affect climbing and load control.

The write-up we sent after the first container cleared

“We came to the TorqMax factory looking for one cargo tricycle and left with two. A flat-seat dump for our construction customers and a flatbed for general freight. The machines are exactly as specified: solid frames, proper 1-ton capacity, easy starting. What impressed us most was the inspection process, where every unit is test-run before packing, and the export crating is genuinely sea-freight grade. Our first container arrived without a single damaged part, and the spare-parts list made local servicing simple. We have since reordered twice.”

Why we ordered factory-direct

TorqMax ships tricycles factory-direct from Shenzhen, China with MOQ 1 unit, a 15–30 day lead time, export wooden-crate packing, and OEM/ODM branding for distributors building their own label. Ask about container consolidation when you order more than one model, because it cuts the per-unit freight. The build and test process we watched on the floor also appears on the tricycle factory videos page.

Questions we get asked about 2026 orders

Can I order just one tricycle, or is there a minimum order quantity?

There is no minimum for a first order. MOQ is 1 unit, so you can sample one machine before you commit to a full container. We started with two, and distributors who order several units usually mix models in a single shipment to spread the freight cost.

Do the gasoline engines meet US emissions requirements?

The engines are covered by EPA Certificate of Conformity TCGPS.2241PC-055, which US importers need for customs clearance and registration. We asked for a copy with our quotation and it came through. If you are importing into the US, request the certificate before you pay a deposit.

How long does production and shipping take?

Standard lead time is 15–30 days from deposit, followed by sea freight to your destination port. Ours left in that window. The factory supplies the full export document set for clearance on arrival, and it pays to book your forwarder early because the 15–30 days covers production and packing, not the sailing.

Can I have the tricycles branded with my own company name?

Yes. OEM and ODM branding is available on decals, badges and color schemes, so distributors can sell under their own label instead of TorqMax’s. The label work happens at the factory, so it is worth settling the artwork while the order is still in production.
